Crystal Structure of the Siderophore Binding Protein BauB

A new spectroscopy instrument has been installed on Beamline 6-2 at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource, where staff scientists are now working to test its various components before offering beam time to users this spring. Differences in synchrotron radiation beamline shielding design between the facilities of 3GeV class and 8GeV class are discussed with regard to SLAC SSRL and SPring-8 beamlines. Summary: SSRL will be implementing a dedicated quick scanning monochromator for X-ray absorption spectroscopy (QEXAS) on BL10-2 in the fall of 2021, making it the first such monochromator on an wiggler beamline. Beam line 4-1 is optimized for XAS measurements between ~5.5 and 30 keV, whereas BL 4-3 is optimized for experiments at 2.4 to 7 keV. The 20-pole wiggler of Beam Line 4-3 produces high-resolution x-ray spectra in the 2.4-14 keV energy range that makes Beam Line 4-3 especially useful to study the elements sulfur, chlorine, and calcium, which are important to biology, geology and archaeology. For SSRL operations, 1988 was a year of stark contrasts. Laboratory/SSRL ( Beam Line 6), University of Branch Line 4-3 Improvement Program - A new. 1 Jan 1997 XAFS data for the glasses and melts were collected on beam line 4-3 at SSRL ( Stanford) with a Si-(220) two-crystal monochromator, the  Sulfur XAFS was measured at room temperature at beamline 4-3 of SSRL configured in low energy mode using a 4-element Ge detector.

SSRL has recently returned to extended running following the successful commissioning of a dedicated injector, and operation of the SPEAR storage ring exclusively for synchrotron radiation research.
